Forest Gate was gentrified before the word was ever dreamed up.

The houses are amazing.

Will the Gentrification Police move on the Romanians who smoke Mayfair Lights and are fond of an Energy Drink or too that stand outside the Beftred opposite East Ham Station, when the Mumford’s move in?

Every time I go back to Forest Gate I'm genuinely surprised at how trendy it's getting.

Could be 100% crime free and every house could come with a harem of supermodels who sucked you off every morning on a rotating shift and still wouldn't justify the prices of living in London these days though.

Would be a major transformation in the area if this happened. I've just sold my 4 bed semi for 400k near the ground.
If anyone has higher offer....

The Empress was set up by the chef from The Sagor ( which was opposite the pub on High Street North) who won loads of awards. The curries in The Empress were the best for miles around.

Re: Location location location....Upton Park
There was an Indian on the Romford road opposite the William the Conquerer called the Empress. Many a Sunday in summer we'd get pissed up out on the grass in front of the Fleece and then go there. Great old style curry house. Brandys and cigars thrown in after. Long gone unfortunately.

It was the Earl of Essex and was run by an Irish couple called Frank and Rita for years.

Re: Location location location....Upton Park
That group is called Antic. I've followed then for a few years. Very savvy at spotting the next gentrification hot spot. Manor Park Hammer will be well pleased.

That pub was very oirish a few years back. Hurling on the TV and all that shit.

Takashi Miike 8:05 Sun Jan 17
Re: Location location location....Upton Park
it was an irish bar

Re: Location location location....Upton Park
It's the big Victorian pub on the corner opposite the Army and Navy.

Don't know if it was an Irish bar.

According to this it's the same lot that took over the Forest Tavern in Forest Gate and trendyised it. Lookd like they know what they are doing for Crossrail.
